Possible New Strut

I got to thinking about making a strut to replace the old shocks on my 91 Softail and went to the hardware store to see what they had.  I didnt find anyhting that I wanted, or even looked good.  But next door at the farm store, I found this top link for a tractor trailer for $20.  I think with a little modification, it might work.  If not, I still have the auto parts store to check out.  I'll figure something out.
